After an initial bad experience with another recovery worker I was convinced to give the service another go and was given Nicki as my support worker. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me and my family. From day one Nicki recognised that a holistic approach was needed. My drink problem was basically self medication for underlining mental health illness. Nicki worked alongside the mental health services and tailored my treatment accordingly. After every meeting with Nicki I have left feeling empowered and listened to. I feel she has got to know the person behind the addiction and this has been key to my recovery. 

Historically mental health services in Bucks area will not engage with a patient if the have an alcohol or drug addiction, but often the case is multifaceted. Drugs and alcohol can be a self medication for untreated mental illness and luckily for me Nicki identified this. I hope other recovery workers and mental health staff start to see this also, so maybe someone like me wont have to go through the same pain.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of using our service. Sorry you didn't feel like you needs were previously been met. Sometimes people don't click therapeutically with a key worker and need to change. If there were other reasons you didn't feel like your needs were being met I would be happy to talk and discuss these with you.

It is great to hear that you have connected with Nikki, she is a fantastic worker and a really valued member of our team, I will ensure she hears you feedback.

As a service we really do try to work with everyone holistically to meet all their issues, we know drugs and/or alcohol can only be part of the problem for some people. It is great to hear you feel your care and treatment with Nikki has been tailored to meet your mental health needs and this has really helped with your recovery.

We are working hard with other services and commissioners in Bucks to increase our referral pathways and joint working protocols.
