My gran was recently admitted via to University Hospital Wishaw via her GP. We attended the Emergency department where she was seen fairly quickly by nursing staff who advised that she was to be seen by the on call medical doctor. There was a little wait for this however nursing staff kindly spoke to the Emergency department Doctor who started the treatment my gran required before she was transferred to the Emergency Care Unit. The nursing staff treating my gran in the Emergency department and in the Emergency Care Unit were very kind and considerate to her needs. Unfortunately I do not recall the nurse's names.
Gran was moved to the Short Stay Ward where her treatment and care continued and I cannot thank the staff in this ward enough for the care and empathy they showed to my gran. Again, unfortunately, I do not recall all the nurses names however I do remember Samantha who was a lovely, kind, caring and compassionate nurse who took time speaking to my gran and our family updating us on her care and treatment at all times. Ashley was also lovely and kept my grans spirits up.
My gran was transferred to Ward 8 where her treatment continued. All staff were lovely and my gran was well taken care of by all staff in Ward 8. She herself praised the staff often. Unfortunately, my gran's symptoms changed which meant she needed other treatment. Staff provided this with great care and compassion whilst keeping her husband and our family updated.
I would like to thank the Doctors, Daniel and Jennifer for their care and compassion and for taking the time to speak to my gran about her treatment and keeping the family updated. To Christine, Dana, Karen, a male nurse in ward 5, and all of the other staff who cared for my gran whilst she was a patient in Ward 8, thank you all.
Sadly my gran passed away quite suddenly. The staff afforded our family time and sympathy and provided answers to the many questions we had before we left the ward. The nurse who spent time with us was so sympathetic.
One suggestion that I would like to make would be for Ward 8 to have a room that relatives could use at such difficult times.
I would be grateful if you could share this with staff.
Kindest regards.
"Compliments to staff"
