"Disabled parking"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit

(as a relative),

Recently I had cause to visit the hospital as my mother had just passed away. I am registered as disabled and use a blue badge.

We arrived at the hospital approximately 6: 50pm and because we were heading to the Acute Assessment Unit we drove to the back of the hospital to find suitable parking. My nephew drove into the car park beside the mental health unit, there was a notice that clearly says DISABLED PARKING ONLY, two rows of parking bays and ALL had cars parked without the blue badge. I find this disgusting service, is there no one on the premises to deal out traffic fines. Because of those selfish people my pain and mobility have been severely affected and I’m struggling to walk.

On another matter. When we finally reached the ACU we were looking for the room where my mother was, my brother and his wife were also in the room. My nephew asked a busy Staff Nurse where we could find my mother, the girl was very polite and said she would return to us shortly. We myself and two nephews turned around in the corridor and began to walk back the way we had come. Behind we heard a very rude and gruff staff member call out to us demanding to know what we were doing. I cannot give you a description of this rude person but my nephew has the intention of complaining to you on this matter too. We found the room containing my mother, brother and sister in law, this ignorant member of staff was right behind us at this point. My nephew stopped and explained why we were there. He was disgusted by these actions, someone who does not belong in the NHS

Regards

Dear matarsg78

I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere condolences to you and your family following the passing of your mum. This must have been a very upsetting time for you all.

I was sorry to hear that you had such a difficult time trying park and that your experience of a staff member's attitude has fallen short of what we would expect in our Acute Medical Unit. Your experience at this difficult time must have left you with a negative view of our service and I apologise for this.

NHS Forth Valley welcomes feedback such as yours as this allows staff to view the service from the patients and relatives point of view and in doing so reflect on and improve the service provided.

I intend to share your experience with the AMU staff so that they can reflect on how their actions impact families.

Kind Regards

Jude

Dear matarsg78

May I offer my sincere condolences to you and your family following the loss of your mother.

I am also so very sorry that during what is a very difficult time for yourself and family you have found one of our staff members to be rude. This staff members attitude towards your family is very disappointing and is not what we would expect from our staff and I can only apologise that you have had to experience this.

I would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention and assure you that we will feed this back to all our staff.

Kind Regards
