"MRI Scan"

About: The Maidstone Hospital / Kent Oncology Centre

My second trip to Maidstone Hospital in a month and oh how I wish this was as good.

I was very nervous as I suffer from Claustrophobia and an MRI scan filed me with dread, even though I had taken a sedative.

I tried to explain to the lady at reception my concern but all she was interested in was me getting booked in.

When called, I again explained to the lady/nurse how nervous I was and was very disappointed in her seemingly lack of compassion towards me.

On entering the scan area I filled the form in but was not shown any concern by the nurse to my obvious discomfort.

If was not for the technician chap I would not have been able to go through with the scan. I explained to him my problem and his attitude was completely different, he encouraged me and made me feel at ease.

There must be a lot of people out there with same concerns as mine and are in need of some encouragement and help. If only the nurse who I see had made more of an effort the experience would have been less traumatic.

Thank you for relaying your feedback ffrom you’re your visit to the MRI department at Maidstone Hospital. We are very sorry that your second visit was not as positive as your first visit. We will pass on your feedback to the department lead to share with staff in the MRI department as patient feedback is very important to learn from.
