Me and my family have been fighting for 3 years plus to get my autistic daughter back into school. She has severe ODD, ADHD, Anxiety, ADD etc and has been in and out of multiple schools since year 7 meaning that she is very educationally behind and thus needs help catching up. She is now year 10 which means she should’ve already started learning the content needed for GCSE’s (of which are vital to her future). We managed - using our own power and resources, to get her into a residential school in which she strived. However, she had a moment (as all children do) and the school decided it was in her best interest to take her out of school to give her therapy before letting her return. We have had many “meetings” with CAMHS and we still continue to receive no help as they have “limited resources” and they continue to point us to somewhere/ someone else so they have less work to do. My daughter is eager to go to school and learn and she is being held back by those who forgot why the work where they do. CAMHS have said that the school staff need to be doing the therapy at school yet the school thought CAMHS were doing it at CAMHS. Also, the therapy needs to be done at school yet she is not allowed to return to school unless she receives therapy first- can anyone explain how this is supposed to work?
We are beyond upset and angry with the lack of effort and care these “professionals” provide and have been jumping through hoops they have asked us to, just so they can tick off there to do list.
Any one else had a similar experience to this?? We pay our money towards this service and get nothing in return.
