My story began in Jan / Feb of this year when I was diagnosed with Lymphoma, (Cancer of the Blood). I had quite a few blood transfusions which were not working very well. The Consultant, who was lovely and very good, came to talk to me to look at the treatment options. I started on Retuximab for the next couple of weeks. I must say the Chemo ward, even though quite small was very good and all the staff that looked after me were excellent and very professional at all times, I have no complaints.
At the end of this treatment the Consultant came to speak to me again and gave me 2 option of either starting the treatment again for another couple of weeks or to wait and see what happens. I opted for the treatment again, even though I didnt really want to go through treatment again. I received the same excellent level of care from all staff. I would like to make a special mention to Nurse in charge Babs, she made me feel like I could cope with the treatment and was extremely good.
The only thing that could be improved would be the size of the ward. It was only a small ward which had 5/6 beds and this must make it difficult for the staff to have enough room to see to all the patients.
Other than that the care was 1 st class and I have no complaints.
