After having a procedure and arriving on ward 5 in the maternity building I was told I would be allowed home a few hours later all being well.
3 hours later I had completed all the checks I needed to so I could be discharged and it was now 7pm.
At 1am I was still sat waiting for my notes, every time I asked if I could go there was another excuse to why my notes hadn’t been written. First it was, there’s only 2 midwives, then we’re waiting for the drugs trolley, then we’re just checking if you need any appointments even though I already told them they had been scheduled. Eventually I was told at midnight that now another patient was really poorly and a priority and I would have to wait even longer - just for my notes!! I was sat in a dark ward waiting to have my notes handed back to me so I could go home and rest. My husband was waiting with me and he starts work at 5am and when I explained it was important that we needed to get home to our 3 children and so my husband could get some sleep I was told to sit and wait. I’m not sure why it actually took over 6 hours and no apology was given.
The wait was unacceptable!
