Our friend is only in her late 30's and had a heart attack.
This was a huge shock as she’s the fittest out off us all and is the glue that keeps us all together. We were devastated and very worried.
She went into ERI and had a stent fitted and was back home a few days later. This was quite hard to believe and even harder when we saw her as she was just her usual smiley self, making us laugh and was feeling positive. And she was up and about which really shocked us all, was obviously a relief to see that she was going to be ok and that’s all thanks to the wonderful staff at the hospital.
She was on ward 114 and this is just a message from her friends to say thank you to the wonderful doctor, I think it was a Mr Northridge for your fantastic care of our friend and for ensuring she’s still around for many years to come, we genuinely don’t know what we would have done without her and she speaks very highly of the wonderful care she got from you, the doctors and the nurses on ward 114 and all the staff she came into contact with.
It’s must have been a terrifying experience for her but it’s also difficult for friends / family too, especially someone so young and who is the backbone of supporting us all, just hearing the word ‘heart attack’ is terrifying and more so when it’s happened to someone you care about, it’s very reassuring to see what an incredible team works at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and we cannot thank Dr Northridge and all the staff on ward 114 for looking after our friend and making sure she’s still here to keep us all going.
We are very lucky to have such a wonderful service as the NHS with such skilled and dedicated doctors and nurses to look after us.
Thank you to each and every one of you for making our friend well again, genuinely means the world to us that she’s ok and that’s all down to your hard work and dedication.
"Skilled and dedicated staff"
