"Some doctors more approachable than others"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Trauma & Orthopaedics (Wards 1 & 5)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

Ward 5

Attitude of one nurse was felt to be poor in mannerisms, looking down on patient. Other nurses looking after patient very well; 'they run about after me', polite and non-judgemental.

Medication arrives on time as per board in the room. Open visiting is good and helpful for patient. Some doctors more approachable than others. Some seem very busy and preoccupied. Nurses explain condition and progress very well. Patient nor sure of road ahead as condition changing and improving on a daily basis. Family speak to staff and understand responses given. Comfortable in the ward, however TV very small.

Dear UHH100,

First of all, let me say that I'm really sorry that you feel that some members of the clinical team are not approachable or are dismissive of you. I was, however, very pleased to read that this experience didn't prevent you from recognising a number of positive elements relating to your stay in the ward.

Thanks very much for taking the time to make the post above. I'll be sure to share this with the medical and nursing team on Ward 5 so they can reflect on the negatives and positives that you highlight.

All the best,

Cameron
