"Treatment of my 7 yo daughter"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Minor injuries unit Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 7 yo daughter suffered an injury to her arm at her football club and (after attending the Victoria Infirmary who advised their wait time exceeded Minor Injuries opening hours) we took her to the children's A&E at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. It was a Sunday evening and the waiting room was REALLY busy (not enough seats). We were sent to x-ray by Advanced Nurse Practitioner Barry -he also followed up after x-ray. Despite how busy he obviously was, he didn't rush us and spent time explaining her injury to my daughter in a way she could understand-she said he was 'very kind and caring' and is telling anyone who'll listen that she has a buckle fracture and what that means!

It's important to credit Barry for how he goes about business-he, and his colleagues, do a very tough job but I think how he dealt with my daughter is typical of his treatment of his young patients; that is special.

Many thanks for sharing your feedback on care opinion. It was great to hear Barry made your daughter feel at ease and took time to explain the injury to your daughter during her visit to the emergency department.

It is also good to hear about the excellent care you and your daughter received. I will share your feedback with Barry and his team.

best wishes

Kalsoom Mohammed
