"Awful ward and staff"

About: Kettering General Hospital / Gynaecology

I was admitted to maple ward on the early hours of Sunday morning due to a&e thinking that I was having an ectopic pregnancy. I was told I would get a scan first thing Sunday morning, this did not happen. I was then told by the consultant on the ward that the pregnancy could still be ectopic but I would have to wait until for a scan on Monday despite being told by two different doctors, one of which was a gynaecology consultant on a&e that I would get one first thing Sunday morning!

Ectopic pregnancies can be a medical emergency and to be left is just disgusting.

I found the staff rude and unhelpful. I suffer from anxiety and the one nurse had the compassion and empathy of brick.

I am really sorry that you felt your recent admission to gynaecology fell below the high standard of care which we strive to administer to all of our patients. I would like to apologise that you were advised that an ultrasound scan would be performed on the day of your admission and for any distress caused when we were not able to accommodate this. Please be reassured that during your admission whilst awaiting your scan the gynaecology team would have been monitoring your condition.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback at this difficult time and if you would like to discuss further I would be happy for you to contact me on Maple ward (01536 492354).
