"Don't bother, go to A&E!"

About: City Care Centre

Daughter 11 had been complaining of leg pains for a few days after two different falls. Phoned Dr 19.09.19 who had no appointments but suggested to go to MIU 40 min drive. MIU receptionist seemed pleasant. Waited with 8year old in tow. Called to be seen and nurse on duty said she was "stumped" by my child (was she suggesting she'd made it up?I couldn't give an account of what had happened as both falls had occurred at school a few days previously and had not been recorded) I asked if they were going to look at her leg (under trousers). The reply from the triage nurse was "No" and I'll just speak to another member of staff (which took longer than it would have to checked her out). She came back and said that they couldn't examine her as it would be seen as an on going problem and that I needed to see my GP and have a referral! I couldn't believe it, they refused to examine my child, she was rude and told me that she was a working mum too and that we have to get our priorities right with work/child when I said well if it's not that serious you'll have to wait until we can get an appointment in a few days with our Dr.(Surely I had my priority right in taking my child to MIU? Rather than not taking her somewhere to get checked out?!).

I took my daughter to the Dr yesterday (the next day) and ended up in A&E from 6p.m.-11:50p.m. Triage at A&E actually apologized for my daughter for not being seen at MIU (That was even before she had been examined in A &E, to which I replied that I understood that it wasn't her fault personally, and had just put it down to a bad experience) My daughter was seen, x-rayed and then treated for a BROKEN FOOT! Shame on you MIU. Decent people in society don't try and drain the system, there was NO CARE and no regard for my child's well being, however there was abruptness, opinionated and rude staff a wasted journey and fore-mostly a child in pain that was not even looked at!
