I visited the endoscopy unit today for an upper g. I. gastroscopy. I was really nervous about the procedure but, during the whole experience (from the time I checked into reception to the time I left the unit), I was treated with respect and kindness. I have to give a special mention to the amazing nurses who checked me in. They went over and above what could be expected to explain everything to me clearly, as well as offering moral support. One nurse even came back to check on me in the waiting room, holding my hand as she spoke to me because she knew how anxious I was.
During the procedure, the staff were all so kind, talking me through every part of the gastroscopy, encouraging me and telling me how well I was doing. When it was all over, I received information straight away about what was discovered and given clear and concise advice about recovery.
I honestly cannot praise the staff that I saw today highly enough. They were all angels. Thank you, Rch. You are all doing a brilliant job in challenging times and I salute you all.
"Amazing staff made endoscopy manageable."
