"Waiting more than 34 weeks for treatment for my..."

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

I can not describe in words how desperate we are.

My 4 year old was checked first time at Lincoln county hospital Ear, nose & throat on 27 of September 2018 for sleeping apnea problem and enlarge tonsils ( this was after several visit to the gp wich finally referred us to the hospital).

Four months later in January 24, after some studies, the results came as positive for sleeping apnea (wich already affects his hearing, eating, sleeping and of course his general health), but the doctors didn't approve his surgery until May 16 wich is almost 4 months after we got the positive results for sleeping apnea.

When I asked the doctor if the surgery was necessary, he said "yes is the only way to fix sleeping apnea in kids this edge". So why wait 4 months after the positive results to approve the surgery.

We thought ok we are closer than before, the surgery is approve we just need to wait a couple of weeks.

Well we have been 18 weeks already in the waiting list and nothing. We spoke with the ccg (clinical commission group) and she first said will be at most in October, now she said it could be until December but again is not for sure.

The hospital web site says up to 25 weeks time from gp referral to treatment. In total, after having the positive results for sleeping apnea, we have been waiting 34 weeks for a treatment and 51 weeks from gp referral.

I have to say that in all this time my son is just getting worst and worst, he can't eat properly because his tonsils, he don't sleep well because the sleeping apnea, yes it might not be an emergency surgery but  is a serious problem that have many lifelong consequences and poor quality of life. Imagine a 4 year old boy that don't eat and don't sleep properly.

Please,  if someone can advice me or tell me who do I need to talk to, this can't be right.

Thank you.
