"Constantly being bitten by tiny mites or insects"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as the patient),

For the past 4 months every day I feel I’m being bitten by tiny bugs I’ve had pest control bomb and smoke my flat but nothing’s changed I live with my son who doesn’t get bitten at all it only seems to be me! No matter where I go I’m being bitten   they seem to be everywhere my home my work my car my clothes I’ve tried everything recommended but no change if I say I’m being bitten 500 times a day it’s like every minute of every day I’m being bitten my life’s terrible I’m so consumed by this.  at the doctors in Kilmarnock I’ve been told I have a dust mite allergy but I’m also told dust mites don’t bite! So why am I being bitten by tiny bugs? This is 4 months into this living hell now in this time I’ve gave up my home and moved got rid of all my furniture and clothing and started again but still nothing’s changed! Please if anyone can help me with this please get in touch! Until 4 months ago I’ve had a pretty good life I really can’t understand why this is happening to me now?

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Turmoil,

Firstly, can I apologise for the delay in this response but I wasn't sure what the best advice is. However, I have established a little about your situation that may be helpful.

I wonder if your GP has referred you on to someone in the hospital to investigate this for you? If you have been refereed to a specialist and await an appointment, this advice may not be required.

I have discussed your situation with the Dermatology Charge Nurse and she agrees that a good place to start would be a referral to see a Dermatologist. You probably know, sometimes we have to rule things out before who is best to give you the care you need can be established, so to speak, and who could help point you in the direction of the help you need. (in the event that dermatology is not the most appropriate place to be cared for).

I am so sorry that you are having such a horrible time; it must be very distressing.

I hope you get the help you need,

Best wishes,

Eunice
