"Terrible Experience at the E&A"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) / Accident and emergency

I was referred to St.Mary’s A&E by my GP because of an infection. I’ve arrived at the front desk at 14.30 and because someone forgot to add my name to the system this resulted in two hours wait before finally saw someone. After few minutes the same person called me in again for a second assessment where I’ve been asked exactly the same question before taking me to the A&E. I’ve arrived around 4.20 and at 9 the doctor told me I was admitted for the night and I had to wait for a bed but in the meantime I would have received some drip treatments. After 3 hours waiting without seeing anybody I enquired the state of my procedure and seems no one had a clue about why and what I was waiting for, this lasted for 2 more hours when a nurse told me that the system was down since midnight and they had to find out what the patients where waiting for but at this point another nurse said that she couldn’t find my papers anywhere.

At 3.30 I’ve finally been informed that there was a misunderstanding earlier in the night and someone informed the department that I had left and the bed wasn’t needed anymore so I got a bed at 4.30 and at 11.30 I was still waiting for a decision to be taken.
