(as the patient),

I am a patient on Alford ward. I am concerned about moving to Evens ward we have been told the full ward is moving there. I am concerned how long this is taking to complete. We have been told they cannot give an exact time frame but the ward Manager will keep Patients up to date with any news. Relating to safety I do think about Staff doing observations alone and if that could be better. We do have good Security Management (environmental) and we feel safe off outside the ward

Thank you for this posting. It's good to hear that you feel safe. I agree with you that the design of Alford is not ideal but I think that staff and patients do their best to make it work. On consultation, I'll wait for others to comment. But it is always the case that consultation slows things down. The important thing is that the Ward Manager is keeping you up to date.

hi, Thank you form raisng your concerns about the ward move. There has been a change of plan for Alford ward and you are now going to move to the new refurbished ward canterbury when this has been vacated. The time frames are fristing but we are unable to give the exact dates as this depends on moving patinets off that ward to meduim security, howvere this is workig really well and quickly. You will be kept updated though.


This will be a much better ward for you as the rooms are en-suite, a better access to the garden for fresh air and gardening.

I am glad you enjoy the community on AlfordI I have always enjoyed the ward when I have worked my shifts or visited.
