My partner, a keen DIY enthusiast, had an 'altercation' with a circular saw and very badly damaged three fingers. He attended (in a panic) at A&E at the QEUH and was triaged, given painkillers, x-rayed and assessed within a short time. He required to attend the following day when he underwent surgery under general anaesthetic to clean and stitch the wounds.
All staff within A&E were helpful and took the time to explain everything. They were clearly under pressure with the number of patients waiting to be seen, however they provided excellent person centred care.
Upon attending the following day for surgery, the staff within Ward 10D were exceptional. Again, they explained everything clearly, were attentive, caring and provided clear advice prior to discharge.
Thanks to all involved for your professionalism, kindness and reassurance.
"Excellent person centred care"
