"Children's ward"

About: West Cumberland Hospital

Although this is a late review I cannot thank the Dr's and nurses on the children's ward enough for what they done for us whilst in their care.

My little boy was admitted from the gp surgery to West Cumberland with suspected appendicitis, after some tests we did have to be transferred to the RVI at Newcastle but the Dr's kept me and my partner informed of what was and would be happening, they were brilliant with my son.

I had a mammy melt down whilst on the ward and the male Dr took hold of my hand sat down beside me and explained that everything would be OK, he was amazing.

Thank you so much again xx

Dear Shaz,

Please don’t apologise for providing a late review, we do appreciate your kind words. I am really pleased your son was well cared for and that the staff also helped you with your own stress. Seeing a child in pain is never easy.

The teams are aware how anxious patients and families can be and they work very hard to ensure that everyone is comfortable and put at ease.

I will pass your comments to the Matron and manager for Children’s Ward as I am sure they will be delighted to share your feedback with the wider team.

I do hope that your son has fully recovered now.

Best wishes for the future
