I have been trying unsuccessfully to book a routine cervical smear test for the last few months. Every time I phone up the reception staff tell me they have no nurses appointments available and are waiting for next month’s appointments to be put on the system by the nurses. I am not blaming the reception staff - it is not their fault and they are as helpful as they can be. I have had a letter to say my smear test is overdue but every time I ring up ( around six times in the last four months) I am told to ring back because there are no appointments on the system. I have never previously experienced such difficulty obtaining a smear test. When I was a patient at Regents Park before the merger it was much easier. I am very disappointed as surely these routine smear tests are not an unexpected workload given the size and demographic of your female patient population and time should be allocated for them to be carried out.
