I want to give my feedback as there are too many complaints and I want to tell the positive feedback about the treatment I received. I want to thank all the staff that looked after me from the cleaners and the porters to the nurses, doctors and consultants.
I am slightly deaf, partially blind and am now recovering after a brain injury which I have spent nine weeks in hospital recovering from the operation to help me. I am from Dundee but had to go to the Aberdeen hospital for special operation. When I was transferred to Aberdeen I knew no-one and I also suffer with stress and anxiety. I was frightened and alone. I cannot thank or praise all the staff on ward 104 enough. They 100% looked after me.
I was very nervous before my operation but the nurses and staff in the recovery ward sat with me taking the time to put me at ease and she was there again when I came round from surgery, she took me back to my room and gave up her own dinner hour time to sit me me. it made my day and helped me relax. Everybody was amazing. They took the time to take me to the rooftop garden and even fetched in a dog to visit with me. they did everything to help me to relax and recover.
The nurse, young lady called Karen, especially helped me to feel safe in a place where I knew no-one. The theatre ladies, the anaesthetist, nurses, cleaners, porters, everyone helped me and I think it is important and fair to tell when people have been nice. The whole staff of the hospital and ward 104 are happy, kind and smiley. They gave up their time for someone they don't know. I was in the army for 16 years and have a nickname which they now know and called me, it was nice. Right from when I first got there and met the student doctor they explained everything to me and put me at ease/
When I was due to go home Dundee hospital forgot to book the transport but the nurses from Aberdeen arranged a taxi for me to the train station and they even came in the taxi and put me on the train. My wife met me at the other end. The Aberdeen hospital said I could have stayed there another day or so while transport was sorted but after nine weeks in hospital I wanted to be home with my wife. I am now at home and recovering but wanted to thank everyone and give my feedback. Everyone was amazing.
"Amazing staff"
