ive been coming to this hospital for about 3 years due to sudden onset of eye pain which has persisted non stop and is completely debilitating to my life. I cannot use my eyes normally. I cannot read comfortably, watch tv, look at a computer screen or phone. I suffer from mental health issues and severe anxiety and rarely leave the house. I struggle with a nearly 2 hour journey via 2 buses and 2 trains to wait for an hour and a half to get about 7 minutes with the specialist and am told that there is something wrong with my lens, he mutters something about me being too young for cataracts and says nothing further about what it might be or treatment options all he says is "see you in a year" that's presuming I still have any eyesight in a year) he noted my anxiety so I would have thought he'd know to be a little more sensitive but in general I would think it was good practise to tell the patient what was wrong with them. my vision is getting dimmer and dimmer and im terrified of going blind. 5 weeks later and they still haven't even written up the notes to send to me and my gp. I was so distressed waiting at the bus stop to go home that I had to be attended to by strangers.
"disappointed with eye clinic"
