I was on holiday in Mousehole and after having gone for lunch at a cafe in Penzance I unfortunately had a food bolus stuck in my oesophagus and was unable to bring it up. When we arrived at the Urgent Care Centre there was a long queue for booking in. However, as my friends and I are all senior trained nurses there appeared to be no staff triaging the patients. I was at risk of choking and the child behind me had been hit in the eye by a cricket ball. After a short time one of my friends sort help. Once the sisters appeared the queue was triaged pretty quickly.
I would like to give praise to the sister who cared for me. She treated me with respect and good humour. Having explained that one of the most effective ways of shifting a food bolus was to drink Coke. This she bought out of her own money which my friend re-imbursed her for. I was eventually transferred for further treatment but I would like to thank the staff for their patience and care.
