"The health service in very good hands"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiothoracic (Heart and Lung) Ward Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Surgical HDU

(as the patient),

I had a really bad fall while coming down Benachie and managed to fracture 8 ribs

I also had 3 fractures on my shoulder/ collarbone

After having been seen at accident and emergency I was transferred to ward 217

I cannot praise the care and treatment I received enough, I felt in very safe hands, all the staff were very professional and reassuring

I was transferred to ward 216 after two days and again found this ward and staff excellent I cannot praise the attention and care I received enough.

I have to mention two student nurses Peter from ward 217 and Dominika ( Dom) from ward 216 they were both very dedicated caring people, if this is the quality of up and coming nurses the health service in very good hands.

Dear Benachie

Many thanks for taking the time to share information regarding your recent hospital stay.

It sounds like you had a really nasty fall given your injuries.

I am so pleased to read that the staff in the wards cared for you in a professional and caring way. They will be delighted to read your feedback and thanks.

We always aim to deliver person centred care to all our patients and great to read that this was evident in the care that you received.

We are very proud of our student nurses and they contribute hugely to the care of our patients and it is so important for their career development that we provide a good learning opportunity for them in a variety of areas. They will be absolutely delighted to read your personal feedback to them and I will ensure this is shared with their SCNs and educators for onward distribution to the students.

I hope that you are recovering well at home from your injuries and that things aren't too painful.

With thanks and best wishes.

Fiona Robertson

Chief Nurse
