I would like to sincerely thank all of the community midwives and team, the clinical psychology team and the medical and auxiliary support staff from the Maternity Unit of the Borders General Hospital.
The support and care that myself (and my husband) received prior to, during and after the birth of our first baby was excellent.
I was able to share my anxieties and feelings surrounding matters that concerned me about the safe delivery of our baby boy and felt supported, listened to and very well cared for. The maternity team at the BGH worked exceptionally well together (and with other staff out with this department) making my experience of services prior to birth and whilst staying on the ward as organised and positive as possible . It was clear that they all communicated well with one another to ensure myself and our son were looked after. The clarity of explanation of each part of the process was much appreciated. It has been a positive experience, despite my high level of anxiety towards certain issues surrounding birth. I will always be very grateful to the Ward 17 staff and entire maternity medical team in the Borders. Alongside midwives, consultants and medical staff there were superb, kind auxiliary staff working within the team who worked exceptionally hard keeping rooms and facilities clean, making tea, bringing breakfast, lunch and dinner, all whilst being chatty and friendly at a life changing time which normality and kindness is really important. I feel very fortunate to have been so well cared for and looked after. Thank you to you all.
"The birth of our baby."
