"Absolutely ridiculous"

About: Leighton Hospital / Accident and emergency

After phoning an ambulance as my 2 year old son had had an 11 minute siezure we arrived at 10pm and told there was a 5 hour wait. Being sent to the waiting room when all he wanted was a dark room and sleep we were told there was nothing they could do. As a parent to a child with epilepsy I know sleep is 1 of the most important things. After asking twice if we could just take him home and see a doctor we were told we couldn't. 4 and half hours later I went to ask how long and the wait had gone up to 6 hours. I understand these things cant be helped but we weren't kept informed on what was happening and just left. Bins were overflowing and a drink got knocked over and told just to put paper towels on it. The emergency cord was pulled in the toilet and it took over an hour for a staff member to come and check. 27 degrees in a children's waiting area. We were eventually told we could take him home.
