Referred to the Neurosurgery department from Barnsley A&E on Wednesday 24th July 2019. The diagnosis was subdural haematoma, based on CT scan from Barnsley A&E. Surgeon came and discussed options, decision made to go for burrhole surgery under local anaesthetic. I was operated after only a short time after I was admitted. The service from all concerned could not have been better, and within 10 minutes of waiting in the recovery room the power had returned to my right side. Treated on N2 ward, Bay 7 and kept flat until drain was removed by a very efficient nurse practitioner. A short while afterwards able to sit up, be seen by a very competent physio and I was soon up and walking. On Friday morning a friendly occupational health nurse gave me a cognitive test and explained everything in great detail, so I could make preparations for going home. I was allowed out on Saturday morning - and service from ALL the staff with whom I had contact could not have been better! I am now recovering well at home - many thanks!
"Thanks for the surgery!"
