I was admitted to A & E by ambulance on Wednesday having difficulty breathing and chest pains. I arrived when it was very busy but my bloods were taken quickly and regular observations done before being seen by a doctor who calmly reassured me in my state of panic, explaining exactly what was happening and why the various tests and X rays were being done, Nothing was left to chance. I was then taken to the clinical decision unit where they gave me the blood results (within 1.5 hours) and a course of treatment put in place. I've since had to visit twice, yesterday (Thursday) for medication and today (Friday) for a CT scan and follow up appointment. I am so grateful to live in Barnsley and have had this first class treatment for this particular emergency. The first time I've needed an ambulance since 1990 and I remember my treatment being outstanding back then too!
