Dear Anonymous,

We are very sorry that your experience of our service was not up to the standards we expect leaving you feeling let down. Unfortunately, a staff member was unable to attend work on this day due to unavoidable circumstances. Our admin team contacted all the patients as soon as they were aware of the situation trying to ensure that patients were not making unnecessary journeys.

Some patients, however, did not receive the message in good time, and we are sorry that this was the case with your appointment.

I apologise again for the distress you experienced as you were struggling with some issues and needed to speak with someone who could assist you. Patients were offered appointments with alternative team members on that day to ensure continuity of care. From your feedback, you were not happy with the person who saw you. I have spoken with the therapist and they apologise that you felt this way. They did not want to cause you any further distress. The aim was to ensure patients received the correct support.

We do not want people who use the Eating Disorders service to feel this way. Through direct contact with the service via email and telephone, we have resolved the issue to your satisfaction and as a service; we are pleased to have had the opportunity to rectify the situation. If you would like to make further contact with the service-please telephone us on 01202 492147. However, if you would like to speak with a member of our Patient Advice and Liaison Service for more information then please do not hesitate to contact (PALS) on 01202 277024 / 277025 or email dhc.pals@nhs.net.”
