"Ridiculously long waiting time but great treatment"

About: Sussex Eye Hospital

The waiting time was a torture. It was a 3 hours wait. I would only recommend someone to attend the Sussex Eye hospital if it is really an emergency otherwise see your Gp which will be quicker. The Sussex Eye hospital needs to put a queuing or ticketing system in place and to keep patient up to date of the waiting time. While I was there patients who came after me got seen 1st. I was not informed of how long I had to wait, otherwise i could have gone out to get something to eat. Also never accept a verbal prescription or on any piece of paper because some of the eye drops are very expensive.

Mine cost £17 and i had to go back to get a proper prescription. What a waste of time.

This part of the service needs improving but otherwise the diagnosis and treatment was great.

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback to us.

I was sorry that your waiting time in our Emergency Department was longer than we would hope.

We now have a board in the area which provides an update as to how many patients are waiting and the likely wait to be seen.

It is difficult to always provide a specific timeframe as all patients are seen in order of clinical priority, therefor, if a patient comes in after you but is triaged as clinical urgent, or requiring emergency treatment, they may be seen first.

I will share your comments with the team about the prescription and ask them to discuss this matter with staff.

I was pleased to learn that overall your treatment was good and hope you are recovering well.
