Took my 1 year old here first thing this morning as she had a rash all over her body, as a mum you worry so wanted the GP to have a look. I hadn't booked an app and just went straight down. I went to speak to the receptionist who said I'm just booking these people in you will be after these, the patients were sat down so didn't realise there was a queue. When I spoke to the receptionist I said my little girl has a rash would I be able to see a GP, she said oh she will be OK without even looking at the rash you can see a locum in an hours time why don't you wait outside??? Not only was she dismissing this rash but also told me to wait outside we're it's boiling as we're currently having a heat wave, I then un buckled my baby out of the pram and showed the receptionist the rash as she seem to think she was a doctor and she said oh it looks like chicken pox. As someone that works in a health care settling this wasn't chicken pox and didn't look anything like it. I'm more annoyed over the fact my little girl was dismissed as this rash could of quite easily of been meningitis and waiting an hour to be seen and being told its nothing is bang out of order. Luckily the rash was a delayed reaction of her MMR jab that she had nearly 2 weeks ago. End of the day the receptionists need to show a little care and attention, there could be people that get told there symptoms are nothing and they take their word for it and go home and something could happen to them.
