"Fantastic level of care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

Taken in by ambulance with breathing difficulties I was seen immediately. During the time I spent in Resuscitation I was never left unattended for long periods and most important for anyone in hospital, I was given updates on what was happening or the next planned procedure. Moved to the Medical Assessment Unit which proved to be as pleasant an experience as a hospital stay can be, Doctors and nursing staff that were caring and exceptionally efficient made time to talk to patients despite having to work under pressure. I cannot emphasis just how caring the staff were in these departments from the time I arrived through to planning my aftercare. Total respect for these people.

My name is Jane and I am the Clinical Matron for Emergency Care. Thank you for your very kind words posted via nhs.uk regarding your care and treatment you received at Treliske hospital.

I have responsibility for the Emergency Department and the Acute Medical Unit (previously AMU) so I am delighted that you had a very positive experience in both areas.

Whilst I know that I have skilled teams in both areas that can and do work under extreme pressure, it is reassuring to know that the communication aspect of care delivery which is equally as important, has not been forgotten. This hopefully made what would have been a potentially very frightening experience for you and your family, slightly easier.

I will pass on your comments to both the medical and nursing teams in these areas and I thank you once more for your comments.
