My wife has recently been an in patient under the care of the Medical team at Q.E.Q.M.H.She was prescribed large doses of oral steroids for her condition.During a Drs. visit she was asked if she had any trouble with her "waterworks", no reason given. We were both informed by the Dr. that all tests were normal and no signs of infection. She was duly discharged after five days. The discharge letter clearly states all tests were normal and to continue with the oral steroids. After two days my wife showed signs of diabetes, excessive thirst and frequent toilet visits. We went to the GP with a urine sample, yes it was showing large amounts of glucose. The GP explained that a probable cause was the steroids. The dose was greatly reduced there and then and stopped after two weeks.A blood test to check was ordered for three months time.Coincidentally my wife had an appt. with the respiratory nurse as a follow up and following this we received her outcome letter which stated early stage diabetes had been found during her hospital stay.NO ONE had informed her, just told all is ok.This is very worrying if conditions like this are not addressed at the time they are identified. Not much faith in this medical team.
