"Magnificent care of my mum"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My mum passed away this week.  As a family we knew the time would come when we would lose our mum to that evil disease cancer.  My Mum was really poorly when she was admitted into Ward C3 and it quickly became clear that this was the final stages of her life.  The entire staff cared for my mum throughout this horrendous experience and showed her tremendous amounts of compassion, care and respect.  They also cared for us as a family, keeping us informed about what was happening, comforting us throughout and making us endless pots of tea.  One lady in particular went above and beyond with her concern for us all. She made sure we ate, drank tea and listened to our fears and sadness.  She was such a huge help during the most horrific experience of our life.

Every single person who works on this ward are compassionate, caring and such a huge support to people when they truly need it most.  We will be eternally grateful to them for their care.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your Mum's admission to ward C3 at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and condolences at this sad time.

It is lovely to receive such positive feedback regarding the care and service your Mum received and we are delighted to pass this on to the staff who will very much appreciate your comments as they always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care.

If you would like to provide us with further information about your experience including the names of any staff then we would really value this so that we can try to make it like this for every patient visiting our hospitals and using our services.

You can either contact me (Sarah Ridehalgh) on 01254 734471 or by email at patientexperience@elht.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for commenting and best wishes.
