"Unfailingly pleasant staff"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Cardiology Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU)

(as a service user),

Admitted to a&e with a suspected cardiac problem, following incident of "faintness" at home. Taken by ambulance, after their initial assessment that "something" had happened. To A&E Crosshouse Hospital. BP/HR tests there ad in CAU proved inconclusive, and I was finally sent to ward 3E/ACH for a further battery of similar tests. Finally, around 1pm my pacemaker was "consulted" and checked for malfunction. Nothing was identified and I was discharged with a slight adjustment to ongoing medication.

At each stage of my short journey I met with highly professional staff who were diligent and careful. I might add, and unfailingly pleasant while evidently extremely busy.

Perhaps attention could be given to finding a quicker means of issuing drugs from pharmacy (this added 4/5 hours to my stay.)

Hi, thank you for taking the time to submit a story of your journey through various departments within Crosshouse hospital. I am glad that your encounters were as I would expect from the healthcare staff. It is a challenging environment however the patient is priority during our daily duties. I acknowledge your comment around length of wait for drugs prior to discharge and we are working with medical, nursing and pharmacy staff to ensure the delays are kept to a minimum and look at ways how these can be reduced.

I hope you are continuing to keep well.

Linda Robertson, CNM CAU

Dear indigoyg66,

Thank you for your feedback on care opinion. I echo my colleagues comments where it is so nice to hear that you found your care in all areas to be good. It is so important that we get it right at all stages as you only live the one experience.

There is no place like home and I can imagine how having to wait for medication was frustrating. Our departments are looking at ways to reduce the waits.

The teams will be delighted to read your comments.

Best Wishes for your recovery,

Christine
