"The booking system and team organisation"

About: Stirling Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Firstly I am not complaining about the care I have received but the booking system and team organisation of the maple team.

This is my second baby thankfully as if this was my first baby I would feel so unprepared and not supported at all. On my first visit I was told I was in a new pilot group in which I would see the same midwife throughout my pregnancy, however this has not been the case. I have now seen 4 different midwives in which I have still not met the named midwife on my file. I have been told twice now that someone would call to arrange my next appointments however I have had to do the calling for which the hospital couldn't even give me a number. I nearly missed my last appointment as one was given which I was never informed about.

This time round an appointment appeared on the app without a phone call (which was requested by the last midwife who saw me). I would never have known I had an appointment unless I had called or been checking the app regularly. I was also told by the last midwife I would have been seen sooner, however I have now waited 6 weeks without seeing anyone. 6 weeks is a long time not to see anyone when my iron was low and there was keytones in my urine previously.

As I said before, when I eventually see a midwife, the staff are great however not even the staff seem to be convinced about this new pilot group when I discussed my concerns previously. I never had any issues in my last pregnancy in the poppy team however this system seems to be a shambles and not supportive at all for patients. I really don't mind if I see the same midwife or not but that is not how it was explained. I also feel that when an appointment is given it is the midwives duty of care to ensure that attendance is present whether that is informing by phone call or letter. I hope this complaint can be helpful to staff so that all patients across forth valley are receiving the same care.

Kind regards

Dear Ea1217

I am so sorry to hear that your experience has not been up to our usual standard and thank you for your kind comments about the care you received. I would be grateful if you could provide me with your details and I will arrange for the team leader from Maple Team to contact you

Thank you

Robbie
