Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback in relation to your admission to the stroke unit. It is great to hear that you found the care to be excellent. We are fortunate to have an excellent on-site catering department.

Watching TV in hospital can be a welcome distraction. The system was introduced a number of years ago with the aim of allowing all patients to be able to watch the TV at their bedside. Within NHS Ayrshire and Arran we recognise the system and costs need to be reviewed. Eunice Goodwin has been undertaking work on this and would welcome your feedback.

Christine is quite right when she said I have been involved in the assessment for the replacement of this TV contract. A great deal of work has been done looking at the options (an option appraisal) in anticipation and planning for the upcoming 'end of contract' with the current supplier.

A survey of patients and public's views contributed to the discussion around the replacement, including their preferred options.

The option appraisal will be presented through the usual structure for approval and ratification and I anticipate the outcome will be well received, however, I best not give too much away until we know what the Senior Management Team and the Board agree.

One thing I can say, it will not be as costly as the current system.
