"Palliative care"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Care of the Elderly (Wards 13-16) University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

We were rushed into the A and E department for my dad.  The staff in the A and E department were wonderful. He was transferred to emergency care ward and the nurse David was wonderful he explained things and showed us he cared. Thank you David. A couple of days later dad was declining and palliative care started. The nurse who cared and loved my dad as much as we did was Sarah. She even escorted my dad to ward 7. From here the nurses have been wonderful Lynette the support worker sat with dad and told him to go. She was wonderful. But the main person to help and support us and dad is Margaret in ward 7. She has listened and acted for us when she could. We thank you from the bottom out our hearts for the care you showed us and our dad. Thank you

Dear Jocks daughter,

Thank you for such kind comments, it can be such a traumatic experience for families as well as patients when coming into hospital under emergency or planned admissions.

We try to deliver a person centred, caring experience for all and I'm pleased we were able to support you as a family along with your dads needs.

I'll be sharing your comments with the different departments and staff and thank you again for taking time to share with us your experiences.

Kind Regards

Gwen
