"RSH- general surgery - laparoscopic..."

About: Southampton NHS Treatment Centre / General surgery

I had assessment with the surgeon/clinician on 19/03/19. During this appointment the clinician clearly explained me the whole procedure and also gave me clear explanation of occurring risks. The clinician also explained how cholecystectomy will be performed either laparoscopically or via an open surgical technique. To help me to better understand the procedure the clinician drew on a piece of paper how it will look like. It was done in a very professional way so I knew about the consequences. The clinician was very polite and patient so all questions I have asked were answered . I had surgery on 14/06/19 in the morning and all staff who were looking after me were very kind and helpful. I was seen by anesthesia team who were very supportive. When they were preparing me for operation they noticed that I was crying and they showed me understanding and they were very helpful, they did not rush but gave me time to calm. After surgery I was seen by clinician and clinician was very supportive and polite. Later recovery nurses and HCSWs were looking after me.

All of them were very kind, supportive and gave me pain relief . They encouraged me to walk and gave me food and drink. After surgery I was seen by clinician who checked my wounds. I would like to thank all multidisciplinary team: medical team( clinician, anesthesia team), nursing team( nurses and HCSWs), receptionists and cleaners for their hard work and support and wish them all the best in their future practice. .
