"Prostate Cancer scare or care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Urology

I suspected I had a prostate cancer problem so met my local GP. A blood test showed my PSA to be raised from a previous 3.8 a couple of years ago to a reading of 7.4.

A rapid referral was made to Urology and a typical "inspection" was made that identified an enlarged prostate and a hardening, so a biopsy was needed.

The specialist nurse who took the biopsy was very good and caring.

I saw a Urologist a short while afterwards to confirm the diagnosis and outlined the treatment available.

I opted for Radiotherapy (20 sessions).

Again caring treatment was given.

I now await a final write off.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm sure this was a very worrying time for you and I'm pleased that you were looked after so well by the staff.

I will certainly pass your comments onto the staff involved in your care and I'm sure that they will be delighted to have such positive feedback.

Kindest regards

Marion
