"Lovely and Proffesional Endoscopy Staff"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

I attended the Endoscopy Department last week for both Endoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy. I cannot praise the staff enough.

The nurse who I intially had contact with was very helpful and patient.

This nurse pre-procedure made me feel comfortable in a potentially embarrassing situation. The three staff who carried out the procedures were considerate, friendly, kind and proffesional. I chose to have no sedation and as the Endoscopist and her colleague were so skilled. there was effectively no discomfort outside of what you would expect for the type of procedure that it was. A really kind gesture touched me, my eyes were watering during one of the procedures (not because of any negative reason) and the colleague assisting the Endoscopist dabbed the tears (from watery eyes) away as the procedure was happening and it was such a reassuring gesture, and helpful as I had mascara on and would have looked like a panda the way my eyes watered!

Lastly, the facilities were also very good. Due to the nature of the pre-procedure process for sigmoidoscopy, privacy is a bonus. I was very fortunate to be put in a room with a WC which due to some personal health issues, turned out to be very fortunate. Excellent Department, Excellent Staff and very skilled (and patient) Endoscopist. Thank you very much.
