I've been fortunate enough to attend day services at Solas within Ayr Hospice. To summarise attending this out patient unit on a Monday has given me the tools and ability to live with terminal cancer instead of waiting to die. From the volunteer drivers, volunteers that make tea, serve up a lovely lunch to the nursing staff, nursing assistants, the Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Counselling staff, Chaplin, Social Worker, Hairdresser situated within the hospice and all the other staff that go to make up such a wonderful place. I've actually discovered a new hobby, painting and can honestly say that while I paint I don't think about my cancer at all. There is a physical/medical side that the Staff nurses assist us with, this must of benefit to our GP's as well as us. Being involved with Solas has enriched my life and enabled me live each day as it comes. I hope that this will convey how much I appreciate the input that Solas has had on my life.
"Excellent experience of day services"
