On arrival at Ambulatory Care, ten minutes before the appointment time, Susan came and collected me and took me through to meet David, who was going to be performing the operation. David explained what would happen and what the risks are and then asked if I was happy and, if so, to sign the patient consent form. Both David and Susan kept up a lively conversation with me during the procedure. Even the local anaesthetic injection was barely noticeable as we were mid conversation. It all seemed to be over quickly, even though it took almost half an hour. I was left with instructions about how to treat the wound, pain relief and the signs to look for if there was an infection. Susan then showed me out.
The anaesthetic has worn off and the wound is a little uncomfortable rather than painful. This was a straightforward procedure made all the easier for me by the friendly approach adopted by both Susan and David.
"A straightforward procedure"
