I was admitted to ED last Sunday and diagnosed with Atrial Flutter. The ED clearly is not big enough for the growing population of Swindon and surrounding area as the cubicles were divided into 2 giving little room for clinicians to work in or privacy to the patient and relative. Trolleys lined up the corridors throughout with patients and Ambulance staff. That said the staff, under intense pressure, dealt with the situation admirably considering the types they were dealing with. I was moved to Linett ward and again the ward was manic. The staff, again under pressure, dealt admirably with the difficult situations that arose and again very professional. Later I was moved to Mercury ward and again I only have praise for the staff apart from one incident which is subject of query by me separately to this review. I really cannot fault the NHS staff and the service they provide if only the facilities were improved in the burgeoning requirement for ED services.
