Just been able to visit my mum on a haematology transplant ward, directed to her room by a member of staff but NOT informed that she has C-Diff (caught in hospital and not even been in 48hrs) and that we should be using gloves, masks and aprons....
Nurse who informed us of this appeared concerned that we were just sat there without using any of the above.... the SRU ward have “lost” all her medication (only arrived by ambulance two days before), the hospital has been in my opinion, from most of what I've seen NOT to the standards I would expect in the UK so I can’t say the C-Diff is surprising, there’s A4 Blu tacked notices everywhere that no one appears to notice, cold drinks are £1. 40 (absolutely ridiculous) and then we’ve had to pay £4 for 90 minutes in a makeshift rumble strewn car park (god help you if you are unsteady, need a wheelchair)
We know what’s coming-CQC have rated them as “good” so that’s all that matters, the drinks and car parks are out sourced and so not “NHS” and no doubt “lessons will be learnt” around allowing us to just wander in and visit... this is my Mums second SCT and this experience has been by far much more slack / lax in terms of care and hygiene than last time... can never get ANY information, no joined up thinking or working, no working with the family, discharged and re-admitted 3 x already... very poor
"No joined up thinking or working"
