I have a suprapubic catheter. Today, it fell out. We called ahead to A and E and Admissions Unit 2. I was so worried that I wouldn't get a catheter back in and would need surgery. There is roughly only an hour to replace it before the catheter site closes up. My heart sank when I arrived in A and E, as it was heaving with people obviously ill. But the AU2 doctor had called and told them to expect me. I was taken through to AU2, and the nurses started getting a trolley and bed ready straight away. It was painful, but they got a catheter back in. It was more painful than usual and I ended up in tears, but the nurse and doctor were very sympathetic and supportive. I was expecting to need surgery when I realised the catheter had come out, but their fast and efficient care today has averted this potential disaster. Thank you very much.
"Brilliant care, definite improvement at Victoria Hospital"
