I got referred by my GP to the Diabetic service at Crosshouse hospital. I got to my appointment in good time, around 10 minutes early after being told by the referral management process team the appointmnet would be in the main building, it wasnt. It was a 10 min walk away to an external building. After waiting for an hour to be seen I was greeted by a very abrupt nurse who took me through to my 20 min appoint, that I was told it would last, only to be seen by a doctor for 5 mins who only told me the same information my own GP told me.
Then the nurse lectured me for the rest of the appointment on smoking and my alcohol consumption. I found this highly inappropriate for them to lecture me on what I chose to do in my personal life. I have 4 mini cigars a day which I was told was excessive, and 4 pints of real ale a week, which again I was told was excessive.
I feel the whole appointment was a huge waste of my time.
