"Nurse treting my son superficially, doctors..."

About: Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency

I went to A&E with my 3years old child with severe disabilities and high risk of seizures feeling very unwell, with very low immune system and I had to wait 3 hours before a doctor saw him. I tried to explain for 4 times how dangerous was for my son to stay in that condition without a medical view to avoid seizures. Doctors were at the reception laughing and nurse was turning her back to me whe I was asking for a doctor to come and see my child. When the observations were taken, the nurse was telling ME to put the probe on my son's toe while I had to comfort him into my arms, just because she didn't want to bend her knees to get to his toe. Extremly disappointed, I felt no one cared about my sons condition and I don't feel safe to go there again.

Thank you for your feedback and I am very sorry about your visit to our Children’s Emergency Department and the treatment that you received. We try to provide a professional caring approach to the children and their families when they attend our ED and unfortunately we failed on this occasion. Please contact me directly on sarah.mclaggan@nhs.net as I would like to be able to follow up on your concerns and be able to deal with your referral directly.

Thank you
