"The group sessions are invaluable"

About: Change Grow Live / CGL Waltham Forest

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have been a drinker from the age of 18, I never thought of it as a big problem but looking back it was the breakdown of all my relationships with me in denial blaming everyone else, it was never my fault. I had a period of 4 years abstinence to gain custody of my oldest son of which I was successful. This was like a green light then I took my drinking to a whole new level, drinking so much that I lost my wife of 15 years, my 4 children including my oldest who now lives with his step mother so has no real mum or dad around, I also lost my house and business and ended up in prison 4 times.

Since engaging with CGL my drinking has almost completely stopped with a few relapses in 2 years I find the staff and volunteers incredible even when I've relapsed they have always been there to help me through and get me back on track I dread to think where I might be without them. The group sessions are invaluable and a great way to hear that it's not just me on my own I thank them all and look forward to working with them for a long abstinent future.

Thank you.
