"I was badly treated"

About: Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust

I was admitted to Wotton Lawn as a vulnerable person in danger of suicide.

I feel that my treatment there has left me in a worse mental condition.

I have been unable to visit any other healthcare professional since July last year, despite my requirements.

My anxiety is now profound and my trust in healthcare is zero.

Whilst there I was assessed for mental capacity whilst I was having a panic attack and made to sign documents that I later found out to be a months admission to the unit.

I was herded like cattle during my transfer and one member of staff had no difficulty in calling me names and deriding my behaviour, despite the fact I was clearly terrified.

After a lengthy period in there (6 hours) I asked go for a cigarette, I was shown to a garden where the member of staff then pointed to the no smoking sign and proceeded to laugh at me.

I was kept overnight, mostly unchecked, with my belt, laces and all of my outdoor clothes, in a room with at least six anchor points strong enough to hang myself off (had I been so inclined).

I was physically attacked by a patient on 3 occasions.

I was continuously lied to the following day by 2 members of staff.

The psychiatrist took exception to me knowing what psychosis is ( last checked my I.Q was 149).

It is my belief that my release was only because of the bad treatment, threat and lack of care I received there.
